How to authenticate Power of Attorney for real estate transaction in China?

Documents such as Power of Attorney drafted in the US must be authenticated by the Chinese Consulate or Chinese Embassy before it can be used in China. We highly recommend to send a copy to China for approval before you proceed with the authentication. CEV is not liable for any errors or discrepancies in the contents of your document nor how the form was completed. An authenticated Power of Attorney is usually valid for 6 months starting from the signature date.


How to fill in a Power of Attorney statement?

Please download the pre-formatted form and fill it out.

After the form has been completed, you must authenticate the documents in the following order:

1.) Notarization by local Notary Public

2.) Authentication by Secretary of State

2a.) Authentication by US Department of State for the following states: Delaware, Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming and Washington DC.

3.) Authentication by Chinese Consulate or Chinese Embassy
