How to authenticate a Business Contract or Business Agreement for use in China?
Have your company prepare the contract or agreement. In order to be used in China, the document must be legalized by the Chinese Consulate or Chinese Embassy. This process can also be used for other business documents not issued by state government. The following steps must be completed for authentication for use in China:
1.) Notarize the original document
2.) Authentication by Secretary of State
2a.) Authentication by US Department of State for the following states: Delaware, Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming and Washington DC.
3.) Authentication by Chinese Consulate or Chinese Embassy
