If you are looking to authenticate a birth certificate issued in New York, you must obtain a birth certificate issued along with a Letter of Exemplification in order to be certified by County Clerk and further authentications. A Letter of Exemplification can only be issued during processing of a birth certificate request. The letter cannot be requested separately.
